Waterfalls Without the Work

I love waterfall hikes. There’s just something about them. But most waterfall hikes are difficult to do and take a lot of work uphill to get to your destination. But these few hikes on Oahu are fun and on the easier side when it comes to sightseeing beautiful waterfalls.

Waimea Falls Park – The easiest hike you’ll ever do in Oahu because it’s a paved trail! You’ll be surrounded by a beautiful botanical garden with a gorgeous waterfall at the end. There are also several cultural activities you can explore and special events are held here throughout the year.

Extra tip: There is an entrance fee (the park is run by a non-profit), but discounts are available for military, seniors and kamaaina. Expect lifeguards at the pool.

Manoa Falls Trail

Manoa Falls Trail – A close drive from Waikiki, not only is this trail easily accessible, but it’s probably the easiest “tough” hike to a waterfall on Oahu. There is a slow and steady incline that is much easier then other switchback or steep hikes. Be prepared for lots of mud since the Manoa area is known for rain.

Jackass Ginger Pool

Jackass Ginger Pool – Officially the Judd Memorial Trail, but its local name is what we usually call it. It’s a short hike to the waterfall and I always see kids doing this trail with ease.

Extra tip: Parking is very limited so come early. The easy-to-miss trailhead is right near the little bridge.

Likeke Falls

Likeke Falls – Getting to this cool waterfall will only take you about 15-20 minutes if you start from the very back of Koolau Golf Course, which they welcome you to do.

Extra tip: Access is closed only on Sundays before 1 PM due to chapel services.
