Do You Have These Discounts?
If you’re paying attention, you’re bound to hear these two questions at a cash register in Hawaii:
- Are you kamaaina? Or,
- Do you have military ID?
If you’re reading these tips, then you’re probably not kamaaina – a resident of Hawaii. With a flash of my Hawaii ID, several local retail stores will usually discount my cost (usually 10% – 15%) or offer a special deal. But if you used to live in Hawaii or will be spending some time with a local, this is helpful to know for your budget plans.
Stores that offer kamaaina discount usually also offer the same discounts and deals for military as well. In fact, I’ve run into a few stores that have only military ID discounts, so if you have one, hold on tight to it for your Hawaii trip! Tourism is our main industry here so military discount opportunities are plentiful.
